A checkerboard turned on the diagonal
Large square tiles in two colors alternate across the entry hall: a dark gray with soft white movement and a white with light gray veining. Turning the grid 45 degrees makes the narrow hall read wider and points the pattern toward the front door.
The floor runs from the front door, past the foot of the staircase and into the hall that opens to the rear rooms. Photos 2 and 3 are taken from nearly the same spot and show where the pattern meets the stair base and the wood floor beyond.
